MEET PRESODHINI
A little introduction..
My name is Presodhini Naicker, but because it’s a mouthful to say, people call me Prissy. I am a mom of 3 year old boy/girl twins. We tried for numerous years to fall pregnant and after a few unsuccessful attempts at IVF, we were lucky and welcomed the twins in May 2015. I have been married for 11 years and dated my husband for 3 years. We were both born in KZN and now live in Sandton. I hold a full time job as Head of Marketing for a financial services company. I love makeup & shopping but don’t really have time for it with the twins. I also love to bake and experiment when I get the opportunity in the kitchen.
Describe your typical day in 5 words or less:
Winging and winning at life.
Name 3 things you can’t live without:
My family, my job and my phone.
Attach a picture of your current mom bag and what’s inside
Extra mural applications, wallet, grocery slips, 3 bouncy balls, makeup and sweets from Pappachinos.
Name 1 thing you wish you knew before you became a mom;
Formulae could be mixed with room temperature water…go figure… I wasted so many hours trying to get the temperature correct and when you have twins there is not a moment to waste.
What do you do when the kids are asleep or napping?
Poor me…they don’t nap and they are awake at 5.30. They have not been the best sleepers, so we get creative to keep them busy over the weekends.
What’s the best part of your day?
Bedtime with the kids… After a long day at work, listening to their innocent stories and bubbling imaginations… makes the day all worth it.
Name a few of your mom Guilty pleasures
Sometimes going shopping after work and not heading straight home… And enjoying some of their snacks while they are asleep….
What has been the scariest moment of your mom life and who did you look to for
support?
The scariest moment ( which actually lasted a month) was when the twins were born and in NICU ( Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). They were born at 32 weeks and it sometimes felt like we would never leave… Strength came in the form of my husband, family, the nurses and doctors and God.
Who is your hero and why?
My mom. She is testament to what motherhood is and what mothers will do for their children.
Name one thing (anything) that you would do if you weren’t afraid and were fearless and there were no consequences and nothing to hold you back:
I would love to start my own business…
Name something that your mom taught you that you have taken into your own motherhood / parenthood.
My mom taught me that a little can go a long way…and to live within your means
If you could be anyone for just one day who would you be?
Kim Kardashian ( don’t judge me)
Worst mom-fail?
Not being able to attend a playball school graduation due to work commitments and my daughter reminding me that I was not there.
How has motherhood changed you?
Motherhood has taught me patience and to enjoy/appreciate the little things in life as well as to live in the moment.
Proudest Moment?
Everyday!
If your house was burning down, name 3 things you’d grab besides the kids and pets?
-my cellphone
-my handbags
-my picture frames
Send me a photo when you were at your worst or best during your motherhood journey and tell me why you chose it.
A picture of my twins a day after they returned from NICU.
Name one thing you would change about yourself and one thing you wouldn’t.
I wish I was more extroverted naturally as it seems to be a useful tool in the corporate environment. I wouldn’t change my attitude to always to aspire to do more and achieve more, so I would say I would not want to change my drive to succeed.
What piece of advice would you give to a new mom starting her journey?
Your child does not need a supermom they just need you to be present…
Who is your biggest support?
My husband and my nanny!
What is the best part of being a mom, only ONE thing please, I know it’s a hard one?
Being called mommy especially when there was a time when I almost believed it would never happen!
Best book you’ve ever read:
The time travellers wife.
Have you ever been judged for how you do things as a mom or how you parent? If so why?
Yes, by certain opinionated family members because of different parenting styles.
Worst parenting advise you ever received?
Buy a sleeping aid doll to assist with bad sleeping. R1000 later and she still sleeps badly.
Double of everything? Did this scare you?
Yes, it is double when they are different genders. Don’t get me started about diapers and formula. Yes, I was in shock for a month. I am a planner by nature and not having planned this scared me the most.
How did you manage through those first few years? You are supermom!
Schedule, schedule, schedule. I also didn’t have the luxury of been able to rock by baby for hours until they fell asleep as there was another one that needed attention to. So it was tough love, scheduling and a great nanny.
What was your first thought and feeling when you saw 2 heart beats?
This can’t be true… I must be dreaming…after so many years, my miracles are here…
Pre, thank you for allowing me into your amazing, busy, heart-filled life and home. Your story is inspiring, not only are you super-mom, but a infertility Warrior and survivior, this is so close to my heart! You are a beautiful, blessed twin mama!
